Hello delegates,

My name is Allison, currently a sophomore at Shanghai American School Puxi, and it is my honor to serve as the President of ECOSOC at SHASMUN XIII. I have been participating in MUN for four years, attending over fifteen conferences.

I will be focusing on the topic of “Promoting decent work and labor rights in the gig economy.” The rapid growth of gig platforms has exposed workers to unstable incomes, lack of benefits, and limited legal protections. Recurring patterns of exploitation indicate the immediate need for stronger regulations and protections, so such technological developments do not infringe workers’ rights.

Please reach out if you have any questions and see you in February!

Hi delegates!

I’m Ethan, and I am currently a sophomore attending United World College Changshu China. It is an honour for me to serve as your Deputy President for the upcoming SHASMUN conference! This is my fifth year participating in MUN, and the upcoming conference will be my fifteenth conference (also my third SHASMUN conference).

I am responsible for Topic 3, which is to ensure economic diversification in oil-dependent economies. Oil-dependent economies have recently become a trending topic, following recent conflicts in both South America and the Middle East. However, our debate needs to dive deeper than the potential political gains and motives of decisions made by governments, but also consider the wider socioeconomic impacts on the individual citizen, particularly those suffering from humanitarian crises.

Thank you for taking your time in reading this and I am looking forward to meeting you all in February!
